Maker Box Filament Print Guide

Maker Box Filament Print Guide

It's time to print something awesome with the 5m of multi-color PLA filament that you received with your Maker Box subscription! You can use your current slicer or we’d love for you to try CANVAS (https://canvas3d.io), the slicer that we built specifically for enhanced multi-color and multi-material printing.

CANVAS
CANVAS can be used in any web browser and has powerful features like the ability to digitally paint STL’s for color printing using any model from your favourite online repository like Thingiverse. We’ve gone ahead and prepared several models in CANVAS that are perfect for printing with this 5m of filament. If you don’t have a free CANVAS account yet check out http://mm3d.co/getting-started-with-canvas. To select a model to print with your Makerbox subscription sample, simply click the share link which will open the print into your newly created CANVAS profile.

Note: The filament provided is not on a spool and has a risk of tangling. Be sure to keep an eye on the filament to ensure it does not interfere with your print.

Using your current slicer
Sticking to your current slicer instead of CANVAS? No problem! You will need to slice a file that will use just under 5m of filament and then run it on your printer while using this filament. If you are using a Bowden-style printer (like a CR10, or Ender 3), be sure to subtract the Bowden length from the total print length. For example, if your Bowden length is 50cm, your print will only be 450cm (i.e. 500cm - 50cm).
