Mosaic ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate) is a durable, weather-resistant thermoplastic filament designed for outdoor and high-performance industrial applications. As a UV-stable alternative to ABS, Mosaic ASA is engineered for 3D printed parts exposed to sunlight, moisture, and harsh outdoor environments, without sacrificing strength or dimensional stability.

What is ASA?

Durable and easy to use. Explore ASA’s material specifications and key properties below.

Mechanical Properties

Mosaic ASA delivers strong, rigid performance with a tensile strength of 46.25 MPa and an elastic modulus of 2412 MPa, making it ideal for functional 3D printed parts, jigs and fixtures, and industrial components requiring strength, stiffness, and dimensional stability under load.

Thermal Properties

Mosaic ASA offers excellent heat resistance with a heat deflection temperature (HDT) of 99.8 °C, maintaining mechanical performance in warm, outdoor, or temperature-fluctuating industrial environments where lower-performance filaments like PLA or PETG fall short.

Chemical Properties

Strong UV and chemical resistance ensures long-term durability for outdoor and harsh-environment applications. Mosaic ASA is hydrolytically stable and well-suited for parts exposed to sunlight, moisture, or chemicals over extended periods, without fading, warping, or losing mechanical integrity.

Industrial Integration, Without Disruption
UV-Resistant Filament for Electronics Enclosures

ASA’s impact resistance, heat tolerance, and dimensional stability make it a reliable outdoor filament choice for protective electronic housings, sensor mounts, and outdoor electrical components that need to withstand repeated thermal cycling and environmental exposure.

Built for the Outdoors: Weatherproof 3D Printing Material

ASA’s UV and weather resistance help 3D printed parts maintain colour, strength, and surface quality even after long-term sun and moisture exposure, making it a strong filament choice for outdoor signage, enclosures, automotive components, and other weather-exposed outdoor parts.

Heat-Resistant & Dimensionally Stable

With strong rigidity and an HDT near 100 °C, ASA holds its shape in warm and fluctuating environments, making it a reliable material for functional parts, fixtures, housings, and industrial 3D printing applications that demand consistent dimensional accuracy.

What Our Customers Say

What Our Customers Say

Array really automates 3D printing by making it a hands off procedure, I can send a print from my computer at home and not have to come into the office at 9pm – the parts are just sitting there ready for me the next day.

Connor Reddington, Avid (a Lubrizol Company)

Students at all levels of education should have access to an Array. It is essential if we’re encouraging STEM education, design engineering thinking, prototyping, iteration – students should have a reliable 3D printer to make parts in the volumes they need.

Cody Soska, Technical Specialist at IDeATe

The ability to develop and produce custom plastic parts at scale, on our factory floor, is great for our business and new client acquisition.

Everything You Need to Know

Are there any print tips or recommendations for ASA?

For best results, print Mosaic ASA in an enclosed or heated chamber to reduce warping, especially on larger parts. Ensure proper bed prep for strong first-layer adhesion and maintain stable chamber conditions for optimal surface quality and dimensional accuracy. While ASA has low moisture sensitivity, pre-drying can improve extrusion consistency. Its UV stability and heat resistance make it ideal for outdoor applications.

Download the spec sheet for detailed print settings, mechanical properties, and recommended temperatures.

Does ASA warp or crack during printing?

ASA is prone to warping and layer separation if printed in open air or without proper bed adhesion. Using a heated bed, enclosure, and controlled cooling significantly improves print quality and reduces defects.

Is ASA suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. ASA’s UV resistance and hydrolytic stability make it ideal for parts exposed to sunlight, moisture, or harsh weather. It maintains mechanical performance and color even after long-term outdoor exposure.

What are common applications for ASA?

ASA is used for functional parts, industrial fixtures, outdoor signage, marine components, and any application requiring UV resistance, chemical tolerance, or long-term dimensional stability. It’s a preferred choice when durability in harsh conditions is essential.
