Mechanical Properties

Mosaic PLA offers rigid, stable performance with a tensile strength of 25.85 MPa and a modulus of 1925 MPa. While not suited for heavy loads, its stiffness and dimensional accuracy make it ideal for prototypes, display parts, and form-fit validation.

Thermal Properties

With an HDT of 51.8 °C, PLA is best for indoor, room-temperature use. It offers excellent surface finish and stability under normal conditions but isn’t recommended for high-heat or outdoor environments.

Chemical Properties

PLA is a plant-based, biodegradable polymer with low moisture sensitivity and consistent printability. While it has limited chemical and UV resistance, it excels where sustainability, rigidity, and visual quality matter. Its matte finish also makes it ideal for decorative or cosmetic parts..

PLA is easy to print and typically does not require an enclosed or heated chamber. Use the manufacturer’s recommended settings and proper bed preparation for reliable adhesion and print quality. Increased airflow can help with cooling on overhangs and detailed features. Proper drying and storage can also help maintain consistent results.

Is Mosaic PLA suitable for functional or high-temperature parts?

PLA is best suited for cosmetic, prototyping, and low-stress applications. While it offers good stiffness, it is not recommended for mechanically demanding parts or applications exposed to elevated temperatures, prolonged sunlight, or outdoor environments.

Does Mosaic PLA need to be dried before printing?

PLA is only mildly moisture-sensitive, but drying can improve print quality if the filament has absorbed humidity. Proper storage in a sealed container with desiccant helps prevent moisture absorption and maintain consistent extrusion.
